Job Description

Quite Interesting Ltd is an independent research and production company which produces iconic books and shows including QI, the hit podcast No Such Thing As A Fish and BBC Radio 4’s The Museum of Curiosity.

QI aims to uncover information which is both fascinating and would work well on a comedy programme. For example, research for the ‘P’ series uncovered the facts that honey bees do a Mexican wave to warn off predators, one of the ways for palaeontologists to tell the difference between a rock and a fossil is to lick it and that the first artificial ice rinks were made with pig fat instead of ice. The show is designed to entertain the audience while being brilliantly informative on the little questions littered across humanity’s history, science and society.

The company is looking for a Research Intern to join them for six months. This is a unique experience for anyone interested in researching and writing for television, as they will join the QI research team and be a part of the creation of the scripts for the next series; from initial ideas to watching the scripts being recorded live in the studio. Each series of QI is themed around a letter and the next series is all about the letter ‘R’.

The successful candidate will join the next series of the BBC 2 television programme and be mentored through the process. They will develop their research and writing skills, learn about the QI style and gain valuable experience on a fast-paced prime time television programme.

Please note this is a behind-the-scenes role based with the QI research team.
