We are looking for someone to support the work of our friendly but busy Blood Sciences department based across 2 sites at Queen’s and King George Hospitals. This post is based at Queens Hospital, but all staff must be prepared to work at either site if required. The successful candidate will join our team in sorting, labelling and preparing patient samples (mainly blood), entering patient data into the Pathology computer system, filing reports and handling telephone enquiries.

Good typing skills are essential as a large part of the workload is to input patient information accurately into the pathology computer system.

This job would suit a local person with some previous experience of office tasks, such as typing, filing and reception duties and who can demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail. In house training will be provided for sample handling and data entry. No laboratory experience is required. Satisfactory performance in mathematics and English at secondary school level or equivalent is required. All work will be carried out under the supervision of qualified staff.

This post is not suitable for people with degree level qualifications as there is no career progression in this role and it is not a laboratory training post.

Both hospitals offer a pleasant working environment and are well served by several bus routes and mainline stations nearby.
