Job Description

Grade 7: £32,236 – £39,609 p.a.

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Research Nurse to join an established MS research team in Oxford led by Dr Matthew Craner on the Optimise study, a prospective, real world pharmacovigilance study in Multiple Sclerosis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing day-to-day leadership to all the Optimise sites both on-site and remotely. The role is primarily based at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, however, there will be the requirement to travel to various UK sites. As part of the management team, the candidate will work collaboratively with a wide range of personnel, including medical leads, clinical trials teams, wider multi-disciplinary teams, and a range of clinicians of all levels. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate display excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to explain and interpret procedures clearly and sensitively.

The role requires using an in-depth knowledge of clinical research, trial protocols, and their application in practise, alongside a working knowledge and compliance with the local, national and international research regulations. The successful candidate will be required to ensure that the study is conducted in compliance with all appropriate legislation and protocols, and that recruitment targets are met. This will require that the candidate possess the ability to act with initiative and handle complex and challenging situations. In addition, it is essential that the successful candidate have an awareness of obligatory regulations and legal requirements of NHS research.

The successful candidate will be a registered, qualified nurse and possess evidence of continuous professional and or academic development. It is essential that the candidate has the ability to co-ordinate and manage nursing staff and has experience of performing clinical assessments of patients. In addition to effective time management and organisational skills, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to problem solve and prioritise. It would prove advantageous to have experience working in a clinical research environment with Good Clinical Practise (GCP) training.

The post is full-time for a fixed-term until 30 April 2021 in the first instance.
