Grade 10a: £47,263 – £63,463 p.a.
Applications are invited for an Associate Professorship of Cardiovascular Physiology based at the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics, Parks Road, Oxford, with effect from as soon as possible. The post is in association with a Tutorial Fellowship in Pre-clinical Medicine at Exeter College.

The Associate Professor will join a dynamic and collaborative department and will engage in high level original and independent research in an area complementary to the Department’s research strategy in Cardiovascular Physiology. In particular, we are interested in candidates with a strong publishing history in cell biology/electrophysiology and/or computational physiology. Shortlisted candidates would have also demonstrated independence through external fellowships or peer review funding. The main duties of this post will be to undertake discovery science, secure external funding to prosecute an independent research programme and educate undergraduate and post graduate students. Specifically, they will contribute to the Department’s teaching of Cardiovascular Physiology to the pre-clinical students studying for the 1st BM and FHS Medical Sciences, and of non-medical students studying the FHS course in Biomedical Sciences (Cells and Systems), as well as college teaching and tutorials.

You should have a higher degree (DPhil/PhD) in a relevant area of research; show evidence of excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching, supervision and research training, and a strong demonstrable commitment to the organisation and delivery of teaching in both Department and College. You will show evidence of substantial independent research accomplishment and a strong publication record, as well as evidence of a substantial and realisable research plan which will complement the Department’s research strategy. You should also have the ability and willingness to undertake some administrative duties within the Department and the College, and to undertake teaching in the tutorial context and the pastoral care of students.

Combined University and College salary: £47,263 – £63,463 p.a. plus a college housing allowance of £8,897 p.a. (if applicable) plus other benefits. An allowance of £2,754 p.a. would be made upon award of the title of Full Professor.
