Job Description

Within the Marketing, Recruitment & External Relations Directorate, the communications team is responsible for supporting the delivery of the University’s strategy and branding, focusing on enhancing its national and international profile for research and expertise, industry partnerships and work-ready graduates, and communicating to its own staff.

We are currently seeking a Graduate Trainee Communications Officer to support the team in all aspects of its work, offering a wider-ranging experience in public sector communications.

Working as part of a team of journalists and PR practitioners, video-makers, marketers and social media specialists, you will be involved in proactive media management, including story generation and promotion, leveraging expertise and activities in the media, shooting and editing video and running the Twitter channel @SalfordUniNews

You will be expected to establish your own contacts and contribute ideas and solutions during team discussions and planning meetings. You will take responsibility for multiple projects, both planned and reactive to external media demand.

You will be a final year under or postgraduate student of journalism/PR at the University of Salford with good knowledge of the media landscape and a desire to learn in a stimulating and creative environment. You will promote creativity and innovation whilst ensuring quality, consistency and efficiency in all areas of media and PR activity.
