An opportunity has arisen within Highway Development Control for an experienced Engineer (Highway Development Control and Section 38/278).
Reporting direct to the Principal Engineer (Highway Development Control) you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant design standards on new developments within the district.
A knowledge of highway design standards, techniques and codes of practice coupled with experience in the design and construction of new highways is essential. The successful candidates will have experience working under pressure as well as a good knowledge of highway and planning legislation and in particular the Highways Act 1980 and Town & Country Planning Act. Working across both Highways and Planning Services, for the Highway Development Control role you will also be able to respond effectively by providing detailed highways comments on planning applications within defined timescales. For the Section 38/278 role you will be able to assist with taking approved highway schemes on new developments through from early involvement through technical approval, and dealing with developers and their Contractors at all stages of construction. It is considered there will be overlap of the roles for the successful candidate where the needs of the service dictates.
This is a career grade post and appointment is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
