RESPONSIBLE TO: School Research Lead
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Leadership of School research agenda
PURPOSE OF POST: To contribute to the strategic development of the School’s academic activity, with particular emphasis on research.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
- Under the overall direction of the School’s Research Lead, leading on the development and submission of high quality research proposals, in collaboration with staff from across the University and with external partners from all sectors. This activity will have particular focus on the activities of the Centre for Digital Cities and Society.
- Undertaking research projects, leading to and with the support of external research funding, and to engage in the supervision of research students.
- Secure external funding to support research activity in collaboration with other Universities or organisations as appropriate to the research theme.
- Developing and maintaining a strong research network, in relation to the Centre for Digital Cities and Society, to include associated activities (events, seminars, proposals).
- Producing high quality peer reviewed academic outputs, in collaboration and through co-authorship with colleagues (as appropriate).
- Supervising post-graduate research and post-graduate taught students
- Engaging with taught courses through the delivery of lectures, seminars and workshops, and especially where there are opportunities to bridge between School research activity and the curriculum.
- Present research at national and/or international conferences and other appropriate events.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of research strategies in the School.
- Engaging effectively in knowledge or technology exchange and/or public engagement activities, involving collaborations internally and with external organisations.
- Undertaking specific leadership roles in the School e.g. Principal Supervisor, and contribute to institutional committees and working groups as required.

PhD in relevant discipline
Knowledge and skills
- Extensive and detailed knowledge and skills pertaining to digital approaches and technologies in architecture and construction. For example, application in design processes, construction / fabrication, project management or through the life cycle.
- Ability to articulate a research vision and strategy for development, implementation, and delivery of successful research projects.
Experience
- Evidence of supervising at least two doctoral students to successful completion
- Excellent record of publications in peer-reviewed journals at a national and / or international level
- Strong record of research funding as appropriate to the discipline
- Experience in providing research leadership
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

- A tertiary level teaching qualification
- Membership of a Professional body related to architecture & built environment.

- Up to date knowledge of content and methods of teaching and / or supporting learning including the value and use of learning technologies.
